Dear Members:
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to another year of the New England Chapter of HIMSS. We recently held our Annual Board Retreat where we set our goals and plans for the year, vote in the new board, review our past accomplishments and determine where we can improve the experience for our valued members and sponsors in the coming year.
We have a great year planned, with many events designed to educate and keep you informed, share experiences and knowledge, and of course, network with industry peers and leaders.
As always, over the course of the year we will have opportunities for you to get more involved with the board and programs that we host. We also continually look for opportunities for sponsors, as without our sponsors, we would not be able to host these great events. For more information about our Sponsorship programs, please contact Kristin Smith or Kelley Golden. (sponsors@nehimss.org)
Some of the events we plan to have this year include:
New England HIMSS HIT Summit September 28, 2011
The Patient Experience Event January 2012
The New England HIMSS/Project Management Institute Conference April 2012
State Advocacy Days to be held in several states over the course of the year
Networking and Educational events to be held in all New England states
We will to continue to hold our evening Massachusetts Networking and Education events on the third Tuesday of the month. We currently plan to hold 5 of these events over the course of our fiscal year. We are considering holding an event in August, on the 4thTuesday of the month. We would like this to be purely a networking event where we will share more information about our upcoming events and discuss ways for you to become more involved. We are looking into holding this as a cookout, and would like to receive your feedback. Does this sound like something you would attend? Please fill out a quick survey here ( http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QRSFRV6). If we receive enough responses by Saturday July 23 we will move forward with this event.
Our Advocacy Committee is working hard to plan events in several of our New England states this year. These may consist of HIT Days, Meet & Greets with legislators, or other options that work for each state. If you are interested in advocacy and would like to assist with the planning or organization of any of these events, you can contact Don Whitmore, our Advocacy Committee Chair. In the 2010-2011 fiscal year, our membership passed the 2000 mark! Were really excited to have achieved this milestone and look forward to continued growth and engagement from our members.
I look forward to meeting more of you over the coming year, and working with you to make the New England Chapter the best it can be.
At this time I would like to introduce you to our new board for the 2011-2012 year. They are:
