Topic:
IT Security & Meaningful Use

Sponsored by: CDW Healthcare
Guest Speakers:
Mac McMillan, National Chair, HIMSS Privacy and Security Policy Task Force
Chuck Podesta, CIO, Fletcher Allen Healthcare

Abstract:
Our topic this month will focus on IT Security. We will hear from Mac McMillan, the National Chair of the newly-formed HIMSS Privacy and Security Policy Task Force, and Chuck Podesta, the CIO of Fletcher Allen Healthcare and also a CIO leader in CHIME, an Advisor on the Healthcare CIO Panel, and Board Member to VITL. We will hear a practical perspective on Information Security under Meaningful Use as McMillan and Podesta take a case study approach of a Virus attack to amplify the trends, issues, and challenges associated with data breach and safe harbor under HITECH.

We will also learn about the Task Force, which was established to bring together a group of industry thought leaders to support HIMSS’s formal response to new legislation and regulation, as well as to develop HIMSS policy position papers and tools that relate to healthcare privacy and security. Attendees will be brought current with the efforts underway at HIMSS nationally in the areas of privacy and security and have the opportunity to give their feedback to inform the national agenda.
